  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • A sprinkle of nutmeg
  • 12 cans kidney beans

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add carrots, sweet potatoes, and apples along with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey to the pot; cook until browned (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste and chili powder; mix well.
  5. Add crushed tomatoes; combine thoroughly.
  6. Reduce heat to low-medium and let simmer for 20-30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them just before serving.
