  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk in sugar, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1 ½ hours or until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, stir together strawberry preserves, diced strawberries (if using), cinnamon, and sugar.
  7. Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a large rectangle (about 16×12 inches).
  8. Spread the strawberry filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  9. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log.
  10. Slice into 12 even rolls and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  11. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
