  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper

  • 1 heaping tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded parmesan cheese
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, combine olive oil and butter. Once melted, add chopped onion, green pepper, and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent.
  2. Add ground turkey to the pot and cook until browned all over, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
  3. Pour in chicken broth along with salt, black pepper, basil, oregano, and thyme; stir well.
  4. Reduce heat to low and mix in evaporated milk, cream cheese cubes, and shredded parmesan cheese until creamy.
  5. Stir in uncooked orzo pasta; cook for about 8-10 minutes or until pasta is tender.
  6. Serve hot and garnish with additional cheese or fresh herbs if desired.
