  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup kunafa dough (shredded phyllo)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for kunafa layer)
  • 2 tbsp sugar syrup
  • 1/4 cup chopped pistachios

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add cocoa powder, flour, and salt; mix until just combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  5. In another bowl, combine kunafa dough with melted butter and sugar syrup until evenly coated; press this mixture over the brownie batter.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow brownies to cool completely before slicing; sprinkle with chopped pistachios before serving.
