  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup concentrated orange juice, thawed
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • Zest from one orange (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon orange extract
  • 3 sticks unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 16 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract (for frosting)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (for frosting)
  • 7 cups powdered sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Orange coloring gel (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease, flour, and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, sift together the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the milk, thawed concentrated orange juice, vegetable oil, and orange extract until combined.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, blend softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar while beating until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and wet mixture to the creamed base until just incorporated.
  6. Divide batter among prepared pans and bake for 28–30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
