  • 4 black tea bags or 4 tsp loose leaf black tea
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 large orange (zest and juice)
  • Optional: 2 star anises
  • Sweetener (honey or sugar) as desired
  • Ice cubes for serving
  • Orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a saucepan. Zest the orange to get about one teaspoon of zest.
  2. Once boiling, remove from heat and add tea bags, cinnamon sticks, and orange zest (and star anises if using). Cover and steep for 5 to 8 minutes.
  3. Juice the orange while steeping the tea. After steeping, remove tea bags and strain the mixture into a pitcher.
  4. Stir in the freshly squeezed orange juice and sweeten to taste with honey or sugar.
  5. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
  6. Serve over ice cubes garnished with orange slices and cinnamon sticks.
