Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup Nutella (or any chocolate-hazelnut spread)
  • Optional glaze: ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 23 teaspoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar. Let sit until foamy (5–10 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer, whisk together flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add butter, eggs, and yeast mixture; mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for 1–1½ hours.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it into a rectangle (12×16 inches). Spread Nutella evenly over the surface.
  5. Roll up tightly from one long side into a log and cut into 12 pieces. Twist each piece to form buns.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or greased muffin tin. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 18–22 minutes or until golden brown.
