Ingredients

Scale
  • 11 tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cookie dough by creaming together unsalted butter and maple sugar until fluffy. Add powdered sugar, maple syrup, and maple extract.
  2. Mix dry ingredients (flour, cornstarch, salt) in a separate bowl before gradually adding them to the wet mixture until combined.
  3. Chill the dough wrapped in plastic wrap for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into maple leaf shapes.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes until lightly golden on the edges. Cool completely on wire racks.
  6. For the cream filling, beat together unsalted butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  7. Assemble cookies by spreading cream filling between two cookie halves.
