  • 1 ½ cups pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 4 ½ tablespoons cold butter (cut into small pieces)
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°F to keep dumplings warm.
  2. In a large pot, bring water, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to a boil over medium heat.
  3. In a food processor, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add cold butter and pulse until it resembles coarse meal.
  4. Transfer to a bowl; mix in buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the boiling sauce until the pot is about two-thirds full. Cover and reduce heat to low; simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer cooked dumplings to an oven-safe dish while repeating with remaining dough.
