  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 crusty white roll
  • 1 egg
  • 500 milliliters beef broth
  • 200 milliliters heavy cream
  • Cornstarch for thickening
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Paprika powder to taste
  • Dried marjoram to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. Soak the crusty roll in water and set aside.
  2. 2. Rinse the cabbage and carefully remove 8 leaves.
  3. 3. Boil the cabbage leaves in a large pot of water for about 2 minutes until softened.
  4. 4. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, onion, soaked roll (squeezed dry), egg, and seasonings. Mix until well combined.
  5. 5. Place filling on the stem end of each cabbage leaf and roll tightly; secure with twine if needed.
  6. 6. Heat olive oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Brown rolls on all sides for about 5 minutes.
  7. 7. Add turkey bacon to sauté with the rolls.
  8. 8. Pour in beef broth, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  9. 9. Remove rolls; stir heavy cream into the broth and thicken with cornstarch as desired.
