  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, dried sage, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 16 meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and brown the meatballs on all sides for about 6 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
  3. Boil peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in salted water for 12-15 minutes until fork-tender; drain.
  4. In the same skillet, deglaze with fruit juice or broth, then add maple syrup and Dijon mustard. Stir in chicken stock and return meatballs to simmer for 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Mash sweet potatoes with butter and cream; season with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  6. Serve meatballs over the sweet potato mash with sauce drizzled on top.
