  • 6 cups peeled, sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of flour; toss until well mixed.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the unbaked pie crust evenly.
  4. For the topping, mix together the remaining flour and brown sugar; cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the topping over the apple filling.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
