  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips (1011 oz)
  • Optional: ¼ cup walnut pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a larger bowl, cut cold butter into pieces and combine with granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Mix until creamy.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and optional walnuts gently.
  6. Scoop dough into balls and place on the prepared baking sheets about two inches apart.
  7. Bake for 6–7 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow cooling briefly on sheets before transferring to wire racks.
