  • 240 g all-purpose flour

  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • Homemade caramel sauce (90 g granulated sugar, 25 g butter, 100 g heavy cream)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground all spice
  • 100 g butter (room temperature)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp caramel
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce by boiling sugar and water until golden amber, then adding butter and cream while stirring.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. In another bowl, combine sugars, grated apples, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until creamy.
  3. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  4. Pour batter into a greased baking pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. For the frosting, beat softened butter with powdered sugar; mix in caramel sauce and vanilla.
  6. Once cooled, frost the cake and drizzle with more caramel sauce before serving.
