  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 220 g unsalted butter (cold)
  • 1 kg apples (Pink Lady, Royal Gala, or Fuji)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 75 g unsalted butter
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2½ tbsp water
  • 5 tbsp almond flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Add water gradually until dough forms. Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. For the filling, peel and slice apples. Melt 75 g of butter in a saucepan, then add sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water. Cook until softened.
  4. Roll out half of the chilled dough and place it in a baking dish. Pour in the apple filling and sprinkle with almond flour.
  5. Roll out remaining dough for a top crust or create a lattice design.
  6. Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle with brown sugar. Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
