  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 cups peeled, diced apples
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 apple, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla and sour cream/yogurt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and fold in diced apples.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. For the crumb topping, combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon; cut in cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the batter.
  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. For the drizzle, cook diced apple with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water until soft.
  9. Serve warm slices drizzled with sauce.
