  • 1 cup cold butter
  • 1/2 cup grated apple
  • 1 cup chilled buttermilk
  • 3 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • pinch salt (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and spices.
  3. Cut cold butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gently stir in the grated apple.
  4. In another bowl, whisk chilled buttermilk until smooth; gradually add to the flour mixture until just combined.
  5. Turn out onto a floured surface; knead gently until smooth. Roll out to ½ inch thick and cut out biscuits.
  6. Bake for about 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While baking, mix honey with chilled butter and a pinch of salt for the glaze.
  8. Brush warm biscuits with honey butter glaze before serving.
